James Phua’s ‘Racehorse painting Live Show’ commissioned by MANZA at Melbourne Cup Luncheon in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 5th November 2013
This wonderful event was organized by MANZA (Australian New Zealand Association) at the Le Meridien Hotel Ballroom on 5th November 2013.
As we know, Australia is one of the giants in the Thoroughbred world. And the Melbourne Cup, the richest “two-mile” handicap in the world, and one of the richest turf races has become the proud of Australians.
During the event, I was commissioned to do a ‘Racehorse Painting Live Show’ on the spot and I was very glad that I had received good reviews from the 250 guests attending that day.

A live show of horse painting by internationally renowned artist James Phua at the Le Meridien Hotel Ballroom on 5th November 2013.
“Everyone was very complimentary about the painting of the horse that you did at the MANZA Melbourne Cup Luncheon 2013 at the Le Meridien Hotel. Many of the 250 people attending the event were waiting for the painting to be auctioned …….they were very disappointed when there wasn’t one. Some very spirited bidding would have ensued I am sure!” said Mary Thornton.
Thank you very much for Mary’s comment and 250 audiences’ feedbacks.
In fact, I will post some of my artworks depicting greatest racehorses in Australian history on my website in near future. Of course, it’s for sale. I think I will let more people to have an equal chance to own them. Don’t be disappointed, guys!
Cheers,
James Phua
