Hi fellow friends,
I did the longest horse painting on canvas at Suria KLCC, Malaysia on 16 January 2014.
Surprisingly, this event had actually attracted a lot media to cover the making of ‘Longest Horse Painting’ that day. The press media were The Star, Focus Malaysia, Sin Chew Daily, China Press, Oriental Daily, Guang Ming Daily, The Sun, Feminine and many more. Whereas, the TV stations were Bernama TV, MyTTV, TV3 (NONA), RTM (Hot), Capital TV, Hello on Two and many more.
I am thankful to their presence and supports.
In replying interviews from reporters, I told the media that:
“This largest horse painting is demonstrating as well as challenging the ability of an artist to really master a subject in art. No pre-drafting! No redo! No correction of mistakes! It is very large until out of artist’s sight. The size of this painting is 12m by 6m. It needs to be completed within an hour or less (I actually completed the giant painting was 35 minutes). And most artists have admitted that the horse is the most difficult subject to paint. At the same time, this event is also showing up the excellent and extraordinary art ability of Malaysian artist to the world. Yet, 2014 is the year of the Horse, therefore this event has become even more meaningful.”
The next day after completion of the longest horse painting, I had actually made up my mind to do a special miniature version (70 x 138cm) of the ‘Longest Horse Painting'( which is recognized as the longest horse painting in Malaysia by the Malaysia Book of Records) to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
(The original horse painting measuring 12 m by 6m was created and unveiled at Suria KLCC shopping centre in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Celebration.)
I think the Prime Minister is the right collector for this painting which is entitled ‘One Malaysia’ by me .This is because large horse (Da Ma) in Mandarin means Malaysia. And one large horse (Yi Ge Da Ma) in Mandarin means One Malaysia, a vision of the present Prime Minister of Malaysia.
On 1 February 2014 at 11.30am, the ‘One Malaysia’ horse painting was presented by me personally to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Haji Najib Razak during his presence at MCA Chinese New Year Gathering at Wisma MCA.
It was my great honor that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was very impressed by my ‘One Malaysia’ Horse Painting. He was keen to know the meaning of the words written in the horse painting. The Prime Minister asked me to explain the content of the long inscription written in the artwork.
I replied: “In Mandarin, one largest horse (Yi Ge Da Ma) means ‘One Malaysia ‘.”
I told him this painting was actually a miniature version (70 x 138cm) of the ‘Longest Horse Painting’ which is recognized as the longest horse painting in Malaysia (12m x 6m) by the Malaysia Books of Records.
Once again, the Prime Minister was attracted by the Malaysia Book of Record story behind the masterpiece. He showed his admiration to my horse painting.
Dato’ Seri Liow Tiong Lai, MCA President who had been accompanying Prime Minister during the MCA Chinese New Year Gathering that day, added:” It is Satu Malaysia!”
Yes, we are ‘One Malaysia’. And ‘One Malaysia’ Horse painting is now a collection of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Together we move forward ,
